The Ballam Park Homestead
The Ballam Park Homestead in Frankston is one of the oldest buildings in the city. Built in 1855 by a pioneering family the Liardet’s, this home retains its French-style farmhouse style, despite being surrounded by modern buildings.
Today, you can visit the homestead museum and resource centre and enjoy a meal at the Ballam Park Homestead Café after your tour as the Homestead is open to the public as part of the local cultural program.
The Ballam Park Homestead is a beautiful oasis in the city, and you should definitely check it out. It is the oldest existing house in the city. The National Trust of Victoria has listed the Ballam Park Homestead on their National Heritage Register. There are regular guided tours at the homestead where you can learn about the homestead’s history and what life was like back in the “olden days”.

The Frankston Old School House Museum
The Frankston Old School House Museum is a unique experience that provides a glimpse into life in the late 1800s and early 1900s. You can take an engaging tour of the old school and learn a little about the early settlers’ way of life. You can also learn a lot about the town’s history in this area.
The museum is situated in a more than 100-year-old building that was once the Frankston State School. The old school is one of the oldest structures in Frankston. Visitors can learn about education in the past while touring a period classroom. Photographs and historical school rolls are on display.
If you’re really eager you can even head down to Frankston Cemetery to get a glimpse of the local history by visiting the grave of pioneer Mrs. Grace McComb, who played an instrumental role in leading a petition to the Government for allotments for state school purposes.
The museum is a treasure for the community and is an excellent educational tool for students and families. The Old School House Museum is one of the best places to visit while you’re in Frankston.

Frankston Pier
The pier is one of the most iconic landmarks of Frankston, with its jutting into Port Phillip Bay. It has a long and varied history, and is an important landmark for the local community.
The original pier at Frankston was built at the base of Oliver’s Hill in 1857. A public petition led to the creation of the pier at its current site and extended into deeper waters extension in 1863. Today, the Frankston Foreshore area is a popular location for locals and visitors alike.

The Frankston War Memorial
The Frankston War Memorial is a strikingly beautiful and powerful landmark located in Beauty Park between Baxter St & Spring St. The memorial held it’s first ANZAC ceremony in 2016.The project was funded by a joint effort of the National Government, The city council, Frankston RSL, Women for Frankston War memorial and numerous community members. The Frankston War Memorial is one of the city’s most prominent attractions. This moving tribute honours those who fought and died for Australia.
